Back in 1990, Bryant Young was a 235 pound linebacker with a large frame that could easily accommodate another 40+ pounds. He was moved to 3 technique tackle in the spring of 1991, at 255 lbs, and aside from George "Boo" Williams, was easily the best defensive tackle on that squad. I still wish we could have seen what he and Williams could have done as a DT / NT tandem, but unfortunately, Williams got booted off the team due to marijuana use.
Bryant Young ended up playing nose tackle for us, and actually held his own quite nicely against many a bigger offensive lineman 40-50 pounds heavier. He, Eric Jones and Devon McDonald were among the few who generated real pressure and could block a running lane decently that year. Troy Ridgely was terrible, Jim Flannigan and Brian "Hambone" Hamilton were a year away from being ready for playing on the line, and Junior Bryant was banged up for most of 1991.
Once he got up to 275 pounds, he was easily among the best in the nation as a true junior and was arguably the best in 1993 as a senior.
Bryce Young is very similar to his father, except even longer framed as you mentioned, and I can definitely see his being a 3 technique tackle this year, and shifting to nose tackle in the near future. This time around, though, there's good defensive line depth, and he won't have to be rushed into service.
