Given the chance, do you doubt Hillary and Co. wouldn't do the same (anything) to win?
But there's the rub, I don't think Trump and Co. really expected or even wanted to win. That assumption of mine blows up the whole theory which is why I remain skeptical. Trump and Co. have a history of financial dealings with the Russians so maybe these Russian ties, meetings and such aren't "collusion" but simply more of the same, enrich thyself. Isn't that the most plausible explanation? Were crimes committed? Obviously they were (financial/tax), and as I have continually stated I approve of the Mueller investigation, but let's not continue to make it into something it isn't.
Of course you guys point to the fact that Trump "looks guilty" or is "acting like a guilty person would" to support your claim, is this really any different than the birthers "then why won't he release his birth certificate!"? Is this any different than Hillary negotiating an off the record interview with the FBI in which she had a sudden bout of amnesia regarding her emails? ("What about Hillary!" As the alternative bad choice, she remains relevant in this.) Trump is no doubt guilty of much, a distinction that usually makes no difference in Washington nor among the world's elite rich and famous. I don't feel sorry for Don at all, but the hypocrisy of it all is just a bit too much for me.
If Trump is removed from office as a result of shady business dealings in his past, I think that is a just result in a vacuum. But the coordination involved between investigators, politicians and media types has to bother people that believe in concepts such as the will of the people. I really wish the red scare crowd could see the irony in their tactics and how it could backfire. I agree with you that some of this is Ken Starr coming back around to bite the republicans in the ass, but that doesn't make it good.
There's a pragmatic side of me that was glad Trump was elected, thinking that maybe people would come to their senses after seeing how far we've fallen. But I was wrong. It's gotten much much worse and I fear what comes next the most. The next Dem president will have the cover of "but Trump!" which will be several orders of magnitude beyond "but Clinton!". Essentially "your rules" a concept I loathe, on steroids. So I guess I fear for the future of the Republic but not in the same way as the liberal johnny come lately Paul Reveres.
