It's also part of history that physical strength and aggressiveness (presumably male traits) were necessary to survive.
In our increasingly mechanized society, physical strength has far less importance. And aggressiveness may well be a bug, not a feature. Aggressive tendencies probably contribute more bad (domestic violence, sex crimes, even war) than good. It could be that the direction of the world is one in which presumably inherent female traits are more important.
As our highest and best use (building things, fighting, driving) become obsolete in view of technology, I'm not sure a patriarchal society makes any sense.
