Right now, there is a split in the medical community world wide on hydroxychloroquine's efficacy in treating/preventin COVID.
What is known is that at present, we lack prospective randomized study trials. Thus, for now, it is a decision that is based on a discussion with a doctor and informed consent with experimental treatment
On the upside:
An innoccuous drug on the order of acetaminophen - I know the msm stories of arrhythmia being fed to their viewers, but as i have outlined before, those deaths all occurred at doses about twice the dosage now recommended.
Tylenol causes deaths too, but nobody fearfully deliberates the use of it for a non life threatening pain, and certainly the government doesn't ban its' use.
Uber cheap and well known
Like any other off label usage, of a drug for another condition it presents options when standard, well studied options are not available.
On the downside:
Efficacy not proven.
I know how political this has become, but I really am eager to see the results of this particular study.
