As a Catholic, one could oppose abortion as part of their individual faith, but recognize that legislators do not necessarily have a better vantage point than the pregnant female facing a difficult choice based upon economics, youth, rape, life threatening health issues, etc.
Adoption or becoming a parent is still a far better option. Moreover, 15 weeks strikes me as a reasonable line in the sand.
But, abortion is way down the list for me regarding the list of issues that should define a Catholic candidate. Much more interested in the candidate’s viewpoints regarding racial/social/economic justice, immigration, crime and punishment, protecting God’s Green earth, protecting the vulnerable and marginalized segment of the population, protecting and promoting democracy here and abroad, …. who understands that Jesus taught us to stand up for the least of us.
Abortion is an overrated political issue.
