Struggle against mid-majors at home (Radford last year....Toledo this year)
Big bodied, not all that talented PF transfers because of playing time (Burns last year....Doherty this year)
Lose a rotation player to an ACL (Rex last year....Carmody this year)
Get blown out by good teams (Maryland this year - and more to come......pick a Top 25 opponent last year)
Regression by Gibbs (I didn't think that was even possible, but he's somehow even more of a liability this year)
The students don't care (outside of the 17 students that show up to each game plus the band)
With the exception of the ACC Championship team, this team never had great athletes, but was tough, could shoot, and was played sound. The last two seasons, the lack of athleticism has been exacerbated by the fact no one can knock down a shot, but there aren't a ton of open shots because there is absolutely no one on this roster who can create their own shot and thus create a shot for others.
I'm a season ticket holder who has yet to attend a game. I donated my money, but don't have much of a desire to take the time to drive and watch this team play live. I'll go to a few ACC games and the UCLA game, but also know the outcome will be similar to last year....20+ point losses to everyone not named Boston College, Pitt, or Georgia Tech.
Unless there are some transfer portal guys that want to get to South Bend, there is no help on the way. This year two more "solid" power forwards were signed.
