Tesla (and Rivian) are direct order if you want to avoid dealer mark-up.
There is a major shake-up with dealers coming. Most have not historically made much in new car sales. They made money mostly on service. EVs require practically zero service. (Dealers also made money on financing, and add-ons like rustproofing, ceramic coating, VIN etching, etc.)
Musk is charging the car buying experience too—it will be interesting to see how dealers react to the disruption over the next 10 years. I think you will see some major changes. (I personally believe dealership are destined for a future like Blockbuster video stores.)
