If you really follow development of Ukraine-Russia since 2014, you would have known that. All hawks in eastern Ukraine who want Russia to occupy Donbass were removed then. Putin really wanted pro-Russia eastern Ukraine stay in Ukraine with autonomy so that Ukraine politics can be balanced. That's why Russia want Minsk agreement to implement by Ukraine which Ukraine signed but refused to implement for 8 years. A pro-Russia eastern Ukraine remains in Ukraine is the best for Russia interest. Russia is so big, doesn't really need more territory. What they need is national security.

But you don't really follow what happened, You just spread this 20 years old propaganda from warmongers.
