democrats making Nationalization of Oil Companies a party platform are, shall we say, 'Remote"...what isn't remote are two very important facts involving fossil fuel burning...
1) For the last 800,000 years...through Ice Ages and Thaws...the atmospheric content of the greenhouse gas CO2 has held within the range of ~180 - 300 ppm, yet within the space of 150 years that level has steadily risen to today's reading (NOAA) of 417 ppm...since it takes a very long time for even a portion of CO2 to be removed from the atmosphere (some never comes out), based on current trends in man-made CO2 production, we'll have between 550 and 900 ppm in the atmosphere by the year 2100...that will definitely leave a mark.
Already, the U.S. (especially CA and the Southwest) are experiencing never before seen drought conditions), and vineyards in France can't produce wine grapes for the first time due to increased temperatures...these changes in environment conditions are profound and will only intensify, unless we begin now to address the root cause...and you've already heard what that is.
2) The U.S. has only 5 years of Proven Oil Reserves left...even if we found triple that amount tomorrow it would not make us "Energy Independent"...moreover, the world's proven oil reserves provide only 47 years of availability for the planet...given that we absolutely need FFs for plastics, fertilizers, lubricants, medicines and many other uses, the last thing we should be doing is incinerating them, especially when there are other energy sources for heat and power (e.g. Nuclear Energy as well as Wind and Solar Power)
This is the bigger picture that Zero Hedge won't show you...instead, it distracts you with fantasy conspiracy theories...take a time out from that path and consider what the leaders of over 190 countries have come to accept...i.e. we need to shift away from the burning of FFs...and SAVE them for their unique and critical uses...how we get there will be 'bumpy' to say the least, but that needs to be humankind's goal.
