A moderate/centrist Democrat can win both a primary and a general election.
The same is not true for GOP candidates, at least in competitive races/districts.
In the Primaries, the GOP "base" demands the extremist -- which is the Trump backed candidate. Hence, the moderate GOP candidate who has the best chance of winning in a general election, -- cannot survive the Primary threshold. So, the GOP enters the General election with candidates who cannot win in those swing races.
