Here's what you don't want to buy:
Mercedes-Benz C250
Loses 34.3% of its original value after one year for an average net loss of $15,247.
Volvo S60
Loses 34.4% of its original value after one year for an average net loss of $14,204.Volvo’s new S60 sedan, due to begin production this summer at the company’s new $1.1 billion plant near Charleston, S.C., is equipped with a system that detects when a head-on collision is inevitable and brakes automatically, thereby reducing the speed and force of the crash. The new S60 sedan is notable for other reasons: It’s the first Volvo to be offered without a diesel option, another sign that the energy-saving propulsion technology is in retreat.
The S60 will come in two gasoline versions, a less-powerful front-wheel-drive (250 h.p.) and a more powerful (316 h.p.) all-wheel-drive. The third powertrain option is a gas-electric hybrid generating 400 h.p. The starting prices of the three versions are $35,800, $40,300 and $54,400 — placing it in a competitive set with BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and other premium brands.
