The only time we didn't rebound was the civil war.
We've had impeachments of officials before. It is a political process. I'm not worried about "weaponization" of impeachment, since that is the very essence of a political process.
I am, however, very worried about the weaponization of the judicial system. That is a big problem. But, we've even rebounded from that. If you look at the history of the FBI, it has been a very political organization at times...cracking down on socialists and whatnot. Personally, I think we should consider minimize the FBI and consider other investigative options. But, any human system is amenable to abuse.
It is most important to oppose political parties who actively want to politicize such organizations. Right now, that party is the Democrats. So, however evil anyone thinks Trump is, or January 6 was, we need to realize that both Trump and 1/6 were reactions to the politicization of the judicial system and of the electoral system by the Dems. And, in such things, perception matters more than reality. If, in reality, the judicial system is 100% fair, and the electoral system is 100% accurate and uncorrupted (as the Democrats would have us believe), but the people think otherwise because of how it is being done, then how it is being done must be changed.
