Somebody named Stacey Schulte came up on my Facebook feed detailing how difficult it was to find charging for her rental EV (I had the same issues). Some quotes from the peanut gallery:
- There is zero % chance I’m giving up my diesels or my gas cars and trucks.
- All of this! 🙌 I’ll keep my gas car all day long! The cost of replacement on those batteries are crazy too.
- Not to mention all of the resources it takes to make just 1 electric car battery... not efficient for anyone.
- All of this sounds draining and traumatic..I will pass on ev.
- Same thing happened to us...It took us 12 hours to drive from Buffalo to Philadelphia when it would normally take 6 in a non EV.
And the coup de grace:
- Payback period is 3-6 years for the carbon footprint for just mining and manufacturing. Cobalt mines in Congo use 40,000 children in these toxic mines. Mit climate says it my ice vehicle would have to drive 62,000 miles to equal the manufacturing process of one ev vehicle.... being most people don't keep a vehicle 5-6 years you start that payback period all over. Not to mention the mines are major polluters and use an abstantial amount of water mining for lithium. You can never reuse the land. It pollutes water, air and the ground. Paradox; saving the world while destroying it.
