The English philosopher, Roger Scruton, who died a few years ago summed it up well. As an undergrad in the late sixties he heard commotion and looked out the window of his dorm to see fellow students pelting, hitting, and screaming at policemen. Scruton wasn't politically-oriented at the time, but immediately notice that privileged students were doing this to working class cops. He explained his reaction as this: "Whatever they're for, I'm against it." I have faith that normal people will overwhelmingly have the same reaction when they witness spoiled brats assaulting police officers and calling them vile names. Whatever they're for, I'm against it.
