Command Seargeant Major but could not retire as one because he didn't serve the requisite years. That did not stop him from applying for a pension as a retired command sergeant major, which was false. The Military cut him down for that. The actual paperwork reducing his retirement rank is here.

He then campaigned on being a retired command sergeant major, which he clearly is not. Anyone who served knows this, and anyone with a brain can figure it out.
