Sounds like she won accolades on her own merit which is NOT DEI. The Left thinks that hiring

NEEDS to be handicapped in favor of minorities because of lack of ability. The Right believes in the ability of minorities being equal to non minorities.

The hiring of a minority is not in and of itself a DEI hire - particularly when the people hiring are conservatives, but it is not surprising that a liberal would think that it is.
