You can "oppose" it if you don't like it, and think it is unwarranted.
You can "oppose" it if you don't like it, but think it is warranted, and therefore actually support the decision.
Or, you can "oppose" it personally, but support it politically.
So, the question is, will you let him answer which is true for him?...and will he take the opportunity to say what he believes? I'm guessing he will run away on this. You let him off the hook. He will use your post as a reason not to post further in this subthread.
