Putin grossly miscalculated Ukraine’s tenacity in defending itself.
Putin grossly underestimated Biden’s and the United States’s willingness to support Ukraine and mobilize NATO support. Biden’s experience and leadership have made the difference.
Russia is greatly weakened by their overreach and the sanctions that followed. I have always maintained that Putin’s greatest threat to himself is his own people. It doesn’t take much for a spark to turn into a revolution. Momentum can be swift.
We will soon learn if Trump squanders the leverage the United States and NATO have over Putin in bringing a close to the war. Putin ought not be rewarded for his aggression.
We shouldn’t. Let’s hope our President Elect doesn’t flinch.
