just a bit and imagine what would have happened on Jan. 6th, had the Capital and D.C. police not been able to hold back those loonies from laying hands on any and all House and Senate members present that day...
Given the extreme violence displayed by the loonies on innumerable videos against those Capital and D.C. police officers, what do you think they would have done to Mike Pence, Nancy Pelosi, other Democrats, or even their staff members who might have tried to intervene?...would they have sat down for a round table discussion of grievances?...or might some of them have followed through on their oft repeated threats to injure or kill those they considered "traitors"?
Since they had, for some odd reason, quite a few zip ties with them, what would the scene have looked like when they gained physical control over those congress members?...would they just use the occasion for "selfies" and let them go about their business?...would everyone simply disperse and say they made their point...hop on airplanes and treasure those memories?...or would there be a violent confrontation with the Capital as the battlefield?
Another question...do you think that President Trump would, after seeing what transpired, immediately mobilize the National Guard and go after those loonies...cordon off the entire Capital grounds and arrest every last one of them?...even if lethal force were required?...or would he continue to cheer on the loonies as he did in his pre-riot speech...demand that the election results needed to be thrown out...and declare Martial Law, with him as the sole source of governance?...it certainly wouldn't be out of character for an off-the-charts narcissist who was facing total ruin once he left office.
Maybe it's just me, but I suspect that this sort of scenario is what so many people are concerned about when they talk about an attack on our democracy.
Calling this a "footnote" will become a world-class understatement once the testimonies are heard, court cases are concluded, books are published and movies distributed.
