You ain't alone.
I have read three books on this list (A brief History of Time, Thinking Fast and Slow, and The Great Gatsby). I finished them all but thought A Brief History of Time was awful. Very poorly written, basically incomprehensible to the lay reader. Thinking Fast and Slow was interesting but far too long. He could have cut by 66% and still gotten the message across. Have read The Great Gatsby several times...no issues.
Personally, I don't have a problem with putting a book aside. Most recently did so with T.E. Lawrence's (Lawrence of Arabia) memoir, Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Life's too short to get bogged down in stuff you find boring.
