Cutting spending yes. Gutting important programs that the dear leader doesn’t like, no.

Orange couldn’t give a rats ass about spending. Proved that first time around. He just wants to destroy what he regards as the deep state and programs he doesn’t like. If he likes the expenditure, he has no problem with it The amount of money he will be wiling to spend on deports and detentions will be astronomical, no matter how much it hurts the economy. He’s not about saving money in the abstract. He’s about destroying what he doesn’t like and wants to take revenge on. Every federal department and agency should get a haircut including Musk, but that won’t happen if they are things the co presidents like or have an interest in. I told you from the start I’m open to cuts for BS things that USAID does. But to essentially eliminate it is stupidity and won’t even save that much. And the deficit won’t be significantly impacted with out some tax hikes and entitlement cuts which is where the real action is at. This is all window dressing for show and revenge.

You want to really cut the deficit? Dust off the Bipartisan Commission report that Barry pitched in the trash in the early teens. MAGA won’t touch it with a ten foot pole because it spreads pain around to everyone including their wealthy benefactors. Neither will the D’s for that matter. And so it goes. But keep hunting woke and snapes in the USAID if that makes you feel good and gets you talking points. Just don’t say you’re serious about the deficit.

If it were up to me, I would do things that would make everyone howl on both the spending and receipts sides . That’s the point though, EVERYONE, including Mars missions when we can’t even do a basic safety net.
