From the Right point of view: Fauci has made mistake after mistake throughout the pandemic (and even before looking at his Gain of Function Research comments in 2012 and his subsequent distribution of modest CDC grant money through an intermediary to the Wuhan Lab). He has lied before congress. He has flip flopped stating the evidence changed (but then his previous claims of certitude were then false without a caveat). He has openly stated the fallacy of mask use on 60 minutes, and then immediately backtracked without new studies to have changed his mind. He has also said that the virus was not transmissable to humans, and then that it was. He has said that the virus came from animals in close contact with humans with certaintly, and then he has backtracked. He has email interactions back in the winter of 2020 documenting that the virus looked to be manmade, and he called a meeting to squelch this narrative - he has just been subpoened again to congress to explain himself on these emails. He has been meeting personally with Bill gates and Mark Zuckerberg who are highly partisan on this topic, and Z has been censoring viewpoints different from Fauci's. He had investments in some of the potential treatemnt options that he did not divest himself of yet. He has been caught several times not following his own mask guidelines (Nationals baseball game, congressional testimony hearings when the cameras went off). He has said that masks can come off after vaccination, period (This is what Biden says that he was informed). No he has said to put back on masks without providing data, and there has been mixed messages all week from his deparetment and the WH to the point that the partisan MSM has started to complain.
These are only some of the reasons that many skeptical people don't trust Fauci, or his word on the vaccine. And this is without even considering his partisan role against Trump during the election year.
The Left chooses to take the viewpoint that convincing is not possible, and many sound as if they wish to harm the people who won't get vaccinated.
But if you are on the Left and don't agree with this.....it doesn't matter. People on the Left (primarily minorities) and the alt Right don't trust a word he says. In fact, they are so suspicious of Fauci, that if he says something, they assume the opposite.
The very obvious, and logical solution is to replace Fauci.
For the sake of more vaccinations, will the Left be willing to let go of their "high sparrow" ? (high priest to those who never saw Game of Thrones).
I doubt it.
