It would be easy to minimize the impact of, say $2B to Stacey Abrams, if we had the money. It's funny I was just recently showing my 15 year old what $150 a month (from her job) would look like invested in a Roth, how much her contributions would grow over 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 years. The inverse is true when we look at the total cost of borrowing just $2B over whatever term it will take to pay it off.
An aggressive budget cut would be the $4.4T we spent in 2019 vs the $6.9T in 2024. But FFS, that was only 6 years ago!
As it stands we are barreling towards a debt spiral and accelerating.
Go Elon, go DOGE in my view.
