And on the flip side of energy consumption -there has never been an energy shortage from fossil fuel

power plants.

β€œ The 2021 Texas power failure was primarily caused by a combination of a major winter storm, insufficient winterization of the state's power infrastructure, and a surge in electricity demand due to the extreme cold. The storm, which brought record-breaking cold temperatures and severe weather, overwhelmed the state's power grid, leading to a widespread loss of power for millions of Texans.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Extreme Winter Storm:”

A series of winter storms brought record-low temperatures to Texas, causing widespread freezing conditions and a surge in demand for electricity to heat homes and businesses.
Insufficient Winterization:
The state's power infrastructure, particularly natural gas pipelines and power plants, was not adequately winterized to withstand the extreme cold, leading to equipment failures and disruptions in power generation.
Natural Gas Supply Issues:
The severe freeze also impacted natural gas production and delivery, with pipelines freezing and natural gas wells experiencing production difficulties. This further exacerbated the power crisis. β€œ

It’s totally possible power outages happen for many reasons and failures regardless of its source and not because of an ideology. Renewable energy has been around for eons; wind, solar, hydro. Managing energy usage is usually the issue. Texas tried to cut corners and not keep their grids up to specifications by (oh no!!!) us government standards and Ted Cruz went to Cancun - you get the picture?
