-and you can see evidence that the liberals sense this as well. They consistently expect conservatives to abandon their candidate immediately if they can find any flaw (or make one up if need be) unrelated to policy. The liberals innately sense that truth and moral character will matter to conservatives (while they are irrelevant to liberals except to use as bludgeons against their opponents).
But since conservatives have shifted to policy only decision-making to counter this inequity ( cultish liberals never, ever abandon their candidate if there is a D before a name in good party standing while effective Republicans were falling by the wayside for any failing real or manufactured), the Left has become frustrated. And what do frustrated liberals do? They project.
They assume all of their own faults are the explanation for their opponent's behavior that frustrates them.
By the way, this dovetails into Liberalism Rule # 10: "We support our representative speaking regardless of the truth "(in contrast to
conservatives who support the truth regardless of the representative speaking it).
