how many migrants are entering the U.S. each month and whether or not they are tested for COVID (from your initial post)...I responded with CBP data that showed the actual number was not 200,000, with none of them tested...but rather 95,000 immediately expelled, and 116,000 processed for possible admittance, with a large majority of them being COVID tested (localities w/o NGOs and testing capability are acknowledged and being dealt with)...not all of them will end up in the U.S...only those who, by law, can gain approval...so on that count, you were wrong both on the numbers and testing status.
The other issue is your seeming contention that the Biden administration has turned a 'well running' border protection program into an "unsustainable" situation, when that is far from the truth...because...
>The 'surge' started in mid-2020 with Trump relying totally on Title 42 expulsions, while cutting funding for any processing of legitimate petitioners (yes, do do exist...by U.S. law)...thus increasing the number of 'recidivists'...both legitimate and illegitimate...(e.g. 27% of July's 212,000 were repeats...who were likely staying just across the border, ready for another try)
>The Trump administration could see first hand in 2020 that the surge was continuing, yet made no effort to provide more facilities and staff to 'humanely' deal with those people
>The Trump administration cut or eliminated funding for already established programs in the Northern Triangle countries to either encourage their citizens to stay put, or at least process them there instead of requiring them to make the trek north...thus adding to the number of migrants 'knocking' on our door....i.e. no attempt whatever to stem the tide by dealing with the root causes.
>Trump's HHS Secretary, Alex Azar said, after the election, that his department would not work with Biden's team until the GSA made a determination of who won...a clear indication of their failure to provide timely assistance in a COVID crisis situation...this certainly set Mayorkas' team back.
Next...as to Mayorkas' 'leaked audio'...IMO, he was acknowledging to the CBP that he heard their cries for assistance and committed to gaining control of a difficult situation...in fact, in his briefing, he outlined several actions that were already taking place...
>He and V.P. Harris had already visited Guatemala and initiated programs to deal with root causes forcing Northern Triangle country inhabitants to flee north...i.e. restoring programs/funding that Trump had cut...not just in Guatemala, but El Salvador and Honduras as well (watch the video).
>Federal assistance was being provided to NGOs for housing and COVID testing of migrants (watch the video)
>More funding to enable faster processing of those going through "due process" requests, as well as those being immediately expelled (much further from the border, btw) (watch the video)
>More security resources (equipment and staffing) for the CBP (watch the video).
In short, Mayorkas was agreeing there was a serious and growing problem that he was already addressing, and would continue to until stability was achieved...not quite the 'message' you, or FOX were delivering.
BTW, don't forget that the GOP never cared to support Trump's wall...they could have used "Warp Speed" in his first two years, when they had the House and Senate, to get him the funding...like they did with the Tax Bill...but they knew it wasn't going to make a difference...so, please don't go down that road.
As for the "Hack" charge...If providing real numbers is being a 'hack', then I'm guilty as charged...not sure what to call what you did.
