large volumes, in a short time, of exceptionally lethal ammunition...Banning them would absolutely REDUCE the carnage...believe it or not...that is a GOOD THING.
btw, given that there are many depressed and potentially homicidal people roaming about the country with their conditions unknown to anyone else...allowing them access to such weapons stochastically assures that there will be more Mass Killings with such weapons. Assault Weapons are no more useful than toys...we don't need them...Let's ban them...Again...We can do this.
Ask yourself...Are Exploding Watermelons that important to you that you'd stomach another School Shooting...or Grocery Store Shooting...or Concert Shooting....the list goes on...and on.
Be an adult and find some other, non-lethal, hobby to support.
