“There’s home field advantage … and then there’s Philadelphia” — an announcer said last year.

But that was an Eagles game.

Just having a conversation with my son about baseball fans vs sports fans. Pick any US city with professional sports teams in MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL. The fans who are true baseball fans — above other sports — are almost always normal civilized fans with a relatively sophisticated eye for the game of baseball.

Phillies fans fit that bill. Yes, they follow the Eagles, Sixers, and Flyers …. but they don’t need to burn a bus to celebrate a championship.

Re true baseball fans, have always thought that Cardinals, Reds, Yankees, and Dodgers had the most sophisticated fan base, followed by Cubs, Phillies, Tigers, and Red Sox fans.

The American Dream belongs to all of us. — Kamala Harris
