Got ilk?

I’ve come to the conclusion that the term “ilk” is essentially the “c” word of political discourse.

Nowadays, when posters use it, they are pissed. I mean REALLY pissed. Disgusted, angry, ….basically the language fails to properly convey the intensity of feeling, and “ilk” just sounds so dirty, grimy, and gross. The posters appear to be gaining venting benefit just in its use as well.

I’ve used it before, but having observed this word which was once reserved for those with a robust vocabulary now make it’s’ way to the hoi polloi and even down to West Lafayette, I will try to avoid it (other than for needling purposes).

    • Untrue. I’ve used the term when debating you and I was hardly pissed… - Domer From Hell - 11:31pm 10/3/25
      • For you, hardly pissed is DefCon4 for most people. Must be all that CA traffic. [NT] - LanceManion - 9:15am 10/4/25
        • Good point. It’s definitely not good to get on my “hardly pissed” side. CA traffic?… - Domer From Hell - 10:10am 10/4/25
      • No, it would have been 100% pasteurized ilk had I not diffused the situation w my considerable charm [NT] - BaronVonZemo - 11:39pm 10/3/25
        • Precisely what I expected someone of your ilk to say… - TakethetrainKnute - 6:44am 10/4/25
        • “Ilk” is a word used to describe a group you’re associated with. Why is that you’re offended … - Domer From Hell - 11:43pm 10/3/25
          • Probably because I am a lifelong liberal and am tired of being treated as if I’m Republican. - BaronVonZemo - 12:02am 10/4/25
            • Yeah, and I’m actually a Trump lemming. [NT] - Domer From Hell - 12:43am 10/4/25
