I'm actually not a fan of these NG deployments, and I would be fine letting Chicago and Portland stew in their own juices. I oppose them doing anything other than guarding federal buildings. Even that should be done only when there is insufficient law enforcement support...which it sounds like there is in those blue cities. If ICE can't do its job, though, because of riots, then the NG is typically used for such things. What's weird is that the Dems think laws should not be enforced in this regard. Laws are for losers? Laws are selectively used by the Left.

And, I can't imagine what would happen if Trump did what Eisenhower did, and sent in the 101st.
