Trump has done several stupid things. Going after Thomas Massie was one of them. This is like what the GOP tried to do to Ron Paul. For decades, the GOP tried to oust him, because, like his protege, he was consistent. When the GOP presented him with wasteful budgets, told him to get behind wars, pushed legislation like the Patriot Act, Paul, always said no. And the GOP always failed to oust Paul. In fact, he became more popular. The same will happen with Massie. Trump will throw some empty suit into the race against Massie, and the hapless fool will lose. Massie will probably win re-election by his largest margin yet.
To establish Massie's bona fides, when every other Republican voted to censure Tlaib for some asinine comments that offended the Amen Corner, Massie was the one House GOP member who didn't, citing his belief in free speech. Exactly how I would've voted. When there is a vote about some silly, feel-good, ceremonial measure to recognize someone or something that is there for ingratiating pols from both parties to virtue signal. Massie votes against them, again, standing almost alone. Like Ron Paul, or Bernie, for that matter, you may not like him, but, in contrast to most of his colleagues, he actually believes in principles, and he mostly follows them with consistency.
