You are not alone.
Tampa expressed his outrage a week ago that the media failed to highlight a story of two teenagers in Rochester NY accused of savagely killing a mentally ill man by lighting him on fire. Tampa theorized that because the teens were black, the media buried the story. But, it was important to Tampa that we knew the juveniles were black.
And then you and others were outraged that the media misrepresented that the Atlanta shooter’s motives were based upon racism vs ridding himself of sexual temptation (coincidentally killing 6 Asians). Again, the 8 lives lost was less important than your assessment of the media coverage. [In fact, you then suggested that sex workers’ lives have diminished value].
This week is Boulder. Congratulations to you and others for not labeling the shooter as an Islamic terrorist. We are proud of your progress. Baby steps. But again, your focus is about the media coverage, not the loss of life.
Perhaps your focus should be about violence, gun violence, and mental illness.
I get it. The Republican Party wants to make it more difficult to vote yet easier to buy a military grade semi automatic rifle.
America can do better.
Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
