I knew about my cousin's Silver Star award in Viet Nam because it was in our local newpapers. I knew about my uncle's 83 missions on an airplane after his death at his funeral at age 97. I knew of another uncle being the nationwide treasurer for a World War II organization after his death at age 86 and also was told that he carried two of his fellow comabatants in the Pacific on his shoulders, but never knew this until after his death. I know my other two cousins who served in Viet Nam but I never hear them ever speak of it. So one thing that was common from them and my other two uncles who also fought in World War Ii was they never spoke of their experiences. They were just our uncles and cousins who we loved and were real men who were respected and were very devout Catholics.
Before it’s too late, Happy Jan 6 everybody! It’s less discussed in nonelection year, but
