Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting incident in Minneapolis, has a rich military background. He served in the Indiana National Guard from 2002 to 2008 and deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005 as a machine gunner on a gun truck and a combat logistical patrol team. His service included earning the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. After his military service, Ross joined U.S. Customs and Border Protection and later joined ICE, where he has been a deportation officer since 2015. His extensive experience and training have been highlighted as factors in his decision to use deadly force during the incident.
