"Blair also said that Britain and the U.S. have a "moral obligation" to stay in Afghanistan until everyone who needs to be evacuated is safely taken out.
"We must evacuate and give sanctuary to those to whom we have responsibility — those Afghans who helped us and stood by us and have a right to demand we stand by them," he said. "There must be no repetition of arbitrary deadlines. We have a moral obligation to keep at it until all those who need to be are evacuated. And we should do so not grudgingly but out of a deep sense of humanity and responsibility."
Donald Trump's negotiated exit plan, as best I can find, had absolutely zero provisions for 'evacuating and sanctuary' of Afghani citizens...thus, the crisis we are looking at on all the news broadcasts...no Special Visas with 13 month processing taken care of, and no pre-arranged agreements with other countries to provide refuge for them...Biden's admin had to start from 'Square One' on Jan. 20th...simple as that.
to Biden's credit, he got four more months to address this issue...could he have gotten more?...need to ask the Taliban if they would have been happy to stop their advances...stop hunting Afghanis who had helped us the last 20 years...with only 2,500 U.S. troops in country thanks to Trump, it's hard to put any fear in the Taliban.
BTW, given Trump's 'table setting', how would you have orchestrated the withdrawal?...don't forget the Taliban is an active player here.
