However, as Pope Francis intimated, and secular institutions confirm...the early stages of pregnancy involving an embryo/fetus does not constitute a Human Person...i.e. there is no "Limbo" anymore in Catholic theology, nor are there Names, Sex, Dates in Church or Governmental records for miscarriages....so the embryo/fetus is a "Potential Person"...note too, that the majority of conceptions never make it to the point of viability.

With these facts in mind, the intent of the victimized woman is not to go out and "Murder" an innocent Person, but rather to 'Self Defend' and Protect herself from severe physical/mental harm (possibly loss of life)...and loss of freedom...for the rest of her life...No Small Matter. At this early stage, she needs to decide whether or not to allow the biological process to proceed to term, or not. She might choose to give the resulting child to a placement agency, or she might feel that the constant 'presence' is too much to bear, or decide that the physical/mental/freedom problems are too overwhelming...as evidenced by the hundreds of thousands of Pre-Roe v Wade 'Self' and 'Back Alley' abortions

Note that in the Just War scenario, the Intent of the victimized nation is not to go out and 'Murder' others, but to use the only means available (lethal force) to protect their lives and freedoms by stopping the unjust aggressive attack...in the Abortion case, it's stopping the biological process.

I'll add...and try to always add...that I believe we share a common goal...Reduce the number of abortions which are frankly caused by Unwanted Pregnancies...hopefully, without added trauma to the affected women...my suggestion is a) Contraception...b) Sex/Sexuality Education...and c) Funding for Programs that make it palatable for women in these conditions to carry their pregnancies to term. As we've seen before, banning Abortions will not stop them...and will only harm more women (by the hundreds of thousands...for sure.
