faculty member. There is no rational justification for the attacks on her or efforts to deny her the leadership position she was given. Universities need to be open to reasoned debate and that needs to include Catholic Universities. Given that Pope Francis himself acknowledged the debate over Personhood of a fetus within the RCC, it is definitely important for all universities to be part of that debate.
This assault on free speech by 'Pro-Life' elements within the Notre Dame community is ill-advised and non-productive. Fortunately, Ms Ostermann continues to be on the faculty...in good standing.
