Anything is better than current regime, no?

Regimes have been changed many times in the past 80 years, and not just by Republican presidents. So, the answer to your question is yes. Perhaps you want to define by what you mean by "worked." If you mean a perfect outcome, for eternity, then no... but that is not a realistic standard.

Replacing a secular leader in this region is problematic, as both Obama and Bush found out. But in this case, the leader being replaced is a religious psychopath, so success is more likely.
