to get out of your simplistic 'Black or White' mentality...and appreciate what's going on here. By now, especially with the overview I gave you of the RCC's reasoning for not announcing an "Imprimatur' of "Just War" to the Allies, you should also be using your noggin to try and understand that the Church is providing what might be termed "Guidelines" for engaging in massive violence...e.g. a 'Checklist' and an Advisory to use "Prudential Judgement" in any war making decisions.
The Catholic Church will always speak of seeking "Peace" and avoiding "Sinful Behavior"...BUT, it also recognizes human frailty...and seeks to guide members toward the "Least Violent" and "Least Sinful" actions...AFTER having an Informed Conscience, and using that Prudential Judgment. Not doing any of that...A'la, Donald Trump's War on Iran...it doesn't take much brain power to appreciate the 'Disappointment' of Pope Leo XIV at what he's seeing.
As the Olympic Swimmer, Donna de Varona has said on another matter..."It's Complicated, and People Don't Like Complicated". You're smart enough to figure it out...others, not so much.
