Why do people follow a pathological liar?

The whole Reflecting pool saga and watching Trump come up with all sorts of grandiose lies to disprove how deficient he is as a leader got me thinking. What kind of person allows themself to be led by the nose by a pathological liar?

The biggest and I feel most accurate reason is confirmation bias. A rationale person who hears something so outlandish will give pause and say "that sounds like utter BS", but if you're of like mind or having similar opinions and someone confirms what you think, you'll eat that shit up.

This my friends is the biggest difference between the political parties in the last 15 years and why I'm so disappointed in MAGA or MAGA-adjacent voters. Until we start from the same set of facts, this country will never prosper the way our founders envisioned.

p.s. If you're first go to is "look in the mirror" or "both sides" do it, please just find your acceptance...
