On 2 " Media and Celebrities Don't Matter". I'd argue Donald Trump won the Republican Primary and the ultimately the Presidency precisely because he IS a celebrity and he masterfully manipulated the media, especially social media. If some no-name Senator or outsider said and did the things Trump did during the campaign he wouldn't have survived the Iowa Caucuses. He'd have had no support. But because of Trump's celebrity status and the media's need to boost ratings through its round the clock coverage of the guy, the Trump phenomenon was created. The media and celebrity status was critically important to Trump.
Oh, and the 6th lesson for Republicans? Make sure the Democrats nominate someone more reviled than your own candidate.
