The Saudis are unilaterally keeping the price low, as we have discussed on here, largely to hurt Russia and Iran (and, to a much lesser extent, US producers), even though it is not in their interest. They do it (at least partially) because we asked them to. And they share a LOT of intel on radical islamic fundamentalists (a phrase that Don no longer uses, by the way, since he has been briefed on how stupid it is to say that).
Yet their actions in Yemen are deplorable, and not all of their princes are on board with the fight against fundamentalism. And they promote conservative Islam across the world. And they run one of the most oppressive regimes in the world (people are much more free in Iran).
So it's complicated.
