you take back nothing you said...how do you square it with your acknowledgement that our FoundingFathers did NOT establish a state religion?...Has there been a "Religious Coup" that I haven't heard of yet? Even though the FoundingFathers happened to be predominantly 'Christian' they had the wisdom to only refer to "God" in their writings...not "Christ"...even then, our laws ensure equal rights for those who do not believe in a God...that is vitally important to our success.
Believe me...I'm fully aware of the mentality you and many others espouse...it's wrong...it's divisive...and it's Un-American. It leads to discrimination and exclusion...as well as 'Chaos"...I say that because I'm also well aware of the incredible range of "Christian Faiths"...almost innumerable Christian Churches...Liberal and Conservative Catholics, etc., etc....what does it really mean to be "Christian"?...You know as well as I there will never be unanimity on that score.
We have many outstanding Americans in positions of responsibility and authority who are performing admirably...without being Christian...because they believe fervently in our Constitution, freedom for all, and accountability to our laws...at the same time, we have many self-proclaimed "Christians" who defy the basic tenets of that Constitution...religious affiliation is not a determining factor.
BTW, you'll find my sentiments in every part of this country...not just the Bay Area...probably even in Portland, Salem, Eugene, or Beaverton...knock yourself out trying to convince all of them of your viewpoint.
