was in my 1960s Catholic school recess. 7th and 8th grade boys only. Large asphalt playground with nuns as playground monitors. Basically. one red rubber playground ball. No teams. No scoring. No rules. Roughly 25 or so boys involved. Kill the guy with the ball. The guy with the ball would run like hell until caught, thrown down, and a dogpile would ensue to wrestle the ball away. We'd give that SOB "wagon space" (room) to start running and the massacre would start all over again. This, for 45 minutes, Mon-Fri. So, at a distance, you would see one guy with a ball running for his life followed by 25 other school chums chasing him. By May, we all had our multiple school unies patched and sewn within an inch of their lives. Unless you were knocked into a state of unconsciousness, the nuns attitude was "play ball". LOL. We also played dodgeball with golf balls, but that's for another day.
