Quite frankly, it's a judgement call that involves more than just the USA, since this is a worldwide "Pandemic" we are currently IN...like it or not. There's much data to be considered, and as the article suggests it's not going to be an "On/Off" switch sort of thing....very likely to be a case where some localities will be 'good to go', while others will be lagging behind...you know who you are ;-).
The hope and expectation is that we'll be treating COVID-19 much like the season flu with periodic booster shots...but IMO since this is a quite deadly pandemic, we'll be on the lookout for outbreaks of new mutations that could cause serious illness for quite some time, and if that happens we'll probably treat such events as "Outbreaks" so that they don't become "Epidemics", or heaven forbid..."Pandemics"...btw, if you haven't gotten the board game "PANDEMIC", buy one now for Christmas...amazingly, it was a huge hit at our house years ago....I kid you not.
BTW...this is no joke....the sooner we get LOTS of people fully VAXXED (think 80+%), the sooner we can stop asking "Are We There Yet?"
