Sometimes formally, sometimes informally, sometime governmentally, sometimes nongovernmentally, we decided that we weren't going to destroy family businesses, shut down schools, give up socializing with other people. Given the paltry number of deaths that were occurring in the region, which has continued, it seems like it was a wise decision.
Most of the folks out here have chosen to do it not out of political motivations, but just because they don't see the risks great enough to justify going the route in our progressive urban centers. There is a healthy minority who resist for political motivations and will not vaccinate or mask up to stick it to the libs. The libs have greatly exacerbated the situation with their rhetoric, which more or less ensured that this minority would resist, to the point that I wonder if some wanted that 20 or so percent to resist. They certainly make for excellent scapegoats.
