You can imagine how well this plays with normal people in Middle America. But since the party long ago assumed the language of a typical, privileged, loyal Whole Foods-shopping, Bay Area suburban community, they'll go with this kind of stuff while steadfastly refusing to acknowledge that they really support open door immigration, so long as those poor brown people don't end up in their privileged neighborhoods or their kids' privileged schools. It's good to read about them and maybe hand them some food or some government assistance, but the line must be drawn someplace, and that place is usually a healthy distance away from where they live and learn and work.
