Wage increase legislation is not passed and enacted immediately. It's phased in over several years. And now it's phasing in in big employment states like California and New York.
There is an interesting chart in the report you linked that shows wage growth in states that increased minimum wages versus those that didn't. Obama and Trump were/are President of all 50 states but those states that passed minimum wage increases saw higher low income wage growth than those that didn't. That sort of defeats the argument that the President, regardless of which one you're talking about, should take credit for the low income wage growth across the country. It looks like it's largely been driven by minimum wage increase legislation, which circles right back to my original post.
Now, if Trump were to push through legislation to increase the Federal minimum wage (because there are some states that don't have a minimum wage) then he should get credit for low income wage growth.
Anyway, I've got to go. Just so we're clear, I'm not angry or trying to be argumentative. This was an interesting discussion.
