There is no "waiting for services" in Canada. If you need emergency care, you are triaged the same as in the US. If you are in for more than essential care, you make an appointment and get the care you need. You make Dr's appointments here in the US, and it's the same in Canada.
How much is your coverage today? You pay a lot for very little. Coverage in the US is a huge burden for the average incomed individual and even more so for the family. If you pay for family, the minimum costs are astronomical.
I find it difficult to believe you have had a substantive conversation with a Canadian on their HC vis a vis US lack of HC. You just prattle on with the rhetoric from places like FOX TV.
you should ask someone who actually lives in or has lived in Canada about their HC. I for one lived there for many years and can give first hand info about their HC.
It works.
I can give you first hand information about HC in the US - It doesn't work all that well and it's hugely expensive = yes, when it works well meaning you have the coverage, it's a great relief for when you have a catastrophic illness but when you don't have the means to pay for great coverage, you're fucked in the US. Not so in Canada.
