Hitler's National Socialist German Workers Party was a minority party, but it isn't accurate to say that "vast majority of Germans had no interest in Nazism." In 1932 the Nazis won 230 of the 608 seats in the Reichstag (this is well more than one-third). German citizens voted them in, so clearly there was interest by the German people in Nazism.
